Individual Counseling is a process through which we work one-on-one , to explore your feelings, beliefs, or behaviors to better understand self and others. Therapy begins with an initial intake appointment that you attend to begin working with me to obtain a clear focus on past and present concerns and inform me the direction to take in counseling. Working one-on-one, we will work together to overcome the challenges you face using evidence-based practices.

My availability for individual counseling is geared towards the working professional, parent, or student with morning classes. I provide evenings, night and weekend hours.
Time is adjusted based on Central US time zone.

Narrative Therapy for Navigating Grief and Loss
Grief is normal and a natural internal reaction to loss. Most people will process the loss without a need for therapy. There are times when grief and loss are complicated. Unprocessed grief can cause a wide range of symptoms including depression, anxiety, panic attacks and many more. Narrative therapy uses your life stories to help change how you emotionally react to the past. Narrative therapy helps those who are grieving make sense of their grief through storytelling. Narrative therapy is helpful because it allows you to face the negative emotions rather than avoid them.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is one specific type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is a 12-session psychotherapy for PTSD. CPT teaches you how to evaluate and change the upsetting thoughts you have had since your trauma. By changing your thoughts, you can change how you feel.
Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR) is an evidence-based skills-focused treatment focused on difficulties with interpersonal relationships and emotion regulation, two domains commonly affected by trauma. Research suggests that STAIR can be used to support and facilitate the effectiveness of subsequent trauma-focused therapy or be a powerful standalone treatment. STAIR can be used with survivors of any type of trauma such as combat, accidents, sexual assault, etc. Specifically, STAIR is a short-term treatment that may work in as few as eight treatment sessions. Of course, treatment may be provided for longer periods depending on the client's needs.
Written Exposure Therapy (WET) is based on a fear extinction/emotional processing treatment model. This includes 5 sessions that include psychoeducation and 30-minute written trauma narrative sessions. I provide guidance while you complete the trauma narrative during the treatment session in addition providing feedback on the prior week’s trauma narrative.
Therapy for chronic medical conditions

Receiving a medical diagnosis can be scary. Medical conditions like cancer, chronic pain, and insomnia can make it difficult to think positively about life. Self-care is important. Therapy can help you develop more constructive ways to cope with stress and feelings of uncertainty. Cognitive Behavior Therapy helps by changing the way that medical problems are viewed cognitively. Through cognitive restructuring, you can learn how to change thoughts, emotions, and behaviors associated with your medical problem. Others may be indecisive about starting medication due to historical traumas with medical providers. Motivational Interviewing can help with medication nonadherence, assess patient ambivalence and/or resistance. It's a collaborative, client-centered communications skill set that can increase behavior change by stimulating your own internal motivation for change.
Group Counseling

Urban Ease provides clinical services that enhance your personal growth and development, address psychological needs, and support the pursuit of professional and academic goals. Group counseling connects people facing circumstances or challenges to learn coping techniques in an empowering space. Urban Ease also offers culturally responsive groups based on the trends and world events in the world at that time. Groups can be open and closed depending on the topic. There are times when clients are not appropriate for group due to symptom severity. This will be further discussed during intake.
TIME: Groups meet weekly for 60-90 minutes and are conducted securely by telehealth in a format that encourages real-time skills practice while fostering connection and support. Groups can range from 4 weeks to 12 weeks.
Clinical Supervision

I provide board approved Clinical Supervision for counselors-in-training and provisionally licensed counselors in the state of Missouri. Supervision provides you with a space to discuss your work with clients, ask what you need help with, and share what you think is going well. Sessions will be structured and intentional, with a focus on specific clinical skills, counseling theory & approaches, your self-awareness, client welfare, tailoring treatment methods to client needs, and your professional/administrative counselor tasks.
Individual Supervision Rates: $100 per hour. Supervision is on a weekly basis and rules are followed by the statues listed under the Committee for Professional Counselors-Missouri. Supervision can be completed via teleconferencing.
Group Supervision Rates: $30 per person (for the regularly scheduled group). (Usually, 4 hours in duration per month). Group supervision alone will never be used to complete supervision hours.
Consultation

Personal connection is crucial to our work as therapists. We know how important empathic relationships are to mental and physical health. Being fully present during our client’s healing journey is the essence of our work. Relationships with other therapists is crucial to our well-being and longevity in this career field. Consultation is helpful for new clinicians and those with experience in order to enhance their overall practice. I provide one-on-one consultation focused your needs as a clinician. Consultation is non-judgmental and supportive.
Consultation is essential. It can take many forms including phone calls, informal and formal meetings, and group or individual clinical consultation sessions. Topics of focus can include case conceptualization, mastering new interventions, transforming countertransference, setting clear boundaries, and career exploration.

Friendship Counseling

We are social creatures and wired for connections. Friendship counseling is based on the concepts of systems theory. Often our close friends are closer to us than our biological families and are amongst the most important people in our lives. If that relationship is off, it will affect the entire system. Unfortunately, this also sometimes comes with conflict and unresolved issues. Just like a marriage or any other relationship, a friendship requires dedicated commitment and understanding to work. Common issues may include lack of communication, conflict resolution, and feelings of betrayal and neglect.
In addition, this time can also be used to strengthen a friendship by working on any areas of concern before they worsen. Friendship therapy, like couples therapy can be effective if both parties are aware and agree to the sessions. Friendship counseling rates depend on number of clients and time requested. Please contact for personalized rates.
